PUT ME IN, COACH

The Life Changing Magic of Going All-In

WELCOME

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I am currently writing this newsletter from a “room with a view,” so I’m particularly grateful for the way this year’s unfolded. (If there’s anything better than looking out at what is essentially a screen saver, I’m not sure what it could be.)

Today we’re addressing a subject near and dear to my heart, and that is the importance of having a coach on your side. My thought is, if you want to be the Michael Jordan of real estate, you can’t do it alone; you need a playbook. You also need to be surrounded by a talented team. As I do not make suggestions without offering solutions, I have a new and exciting announcement about becoming an Estate Elite agent, where we’ll give you that playbook!

So roll up your pant cuffs, and let’s wade on into it.

I am holding space for this view.

STORY TIME WITH GLENNDA

It’s Time to Go All-In

Tom Landry once said, “Really, coaching is simplicity. It’s getting players to play better than they think they can.” That quote resonates with me, because back around 2013, I was selling about 30 houses a year. At the time, I thought that was pretty good… even though I didn’t have a lot of profit. I thought I could maybe do better, but I didn’t have any idea how to do that.

So one day I’m driving in my car, listening to a Tony Robbins CD where he was giving a Power talk. (They were basically little vignettes of what we’d call a podcast today.) Well, you can’t listen to Tony Robbins without getting pumped up, so I started giving myself some positive self talk. I told myself, I think I’ve got more in me than to just be an average agent. I decided to go all-in; I just had to figure out how to get there.

I felt like I could not get there on my own, so I called about getting coaching. And I talked to the person at Tom Ferry and he told me that a coach would cost $1000/month. And then, after I finished laughing, I said, “Thank you,” and I hung up. $12,000 was far too much for me to spend, especially given my tenuous relationship with profitability. Well, not five minutes later, Tom Ferry himself called me and said, “If you don’t make an extra $12,000, I will give you a full refund.”

So I signed up.

While I was given a coach, I was only half-in, half-out of the whole group. Like, I wasn’t active in the Facebook group, I wasn’t using the other tools they gave me. I wasn’t accessing the education. I did what my coach said, but I wasn’t doing anything extra.

Now, it wasn’t until I went to a live event in Orlando that the magic of the program really kicked in. I was like, Wait a minute, I can and should do all this stuff. And that was the catalyst for me to go from 30 deals to 35 to 68 to 75 and then on up. What I learned was for it to work, I really had to buy into the whole thing. The mentorship wasn’t enough, and I couldn’t be one foot in, one foot out. I had to embrace the whole community; I had to tap into all the resources.

When you’re a part of an entire community of learning, you pick up something from everyone. Some will be great at farming and sphere of influence, some with expired listings, some with social media. You need to hear it all, from everyone.

What I took most from the experience is that I had to break out of my comfort zone. I had to become uncomfortable because that was the only way I could get to the next level. The program taught me I was a good agent, but that I couldn’t be great until I mastered all the pieces, like client events, client follow up, lead follow up, lead generation, etc. Prior to that point, I’d never hustled for the business because I’d just been happy with the business that had come to me. It had never occurred to me that I could and should chase after it.

If I hadn’t learned to hustle, and break out of my comfort zone—like by doing videos—I’d never have had the amount of outgoing and incoming referrals. I learned that if I was going to do the same thing over and over again, I’d get the same results.

For me, I do best when I get the instruction manual. That’s what I wanted in a coaching program. I need to know step by step how to do it. What’s ironic is that Michael Jordan has never been a coach because his thought process is, “This is exactly how you should do it,” and then he’d get frustrated when he’d tell other players how to do it and they didn’t listen.

Let me say this—if Michael Jordan offers gives you his playbook, you follow it.

The good news is, I am the Michael Jordan of real estate and I have that playbook. I’ve always wanted to be able tell you exactly how to do it, step by step. And that is why I’m so excited to now be a part of a larger program where we’re going to give you the playbook, the community, the education, and all the tools, plus the access to the entire Olympic team of Michael Jordans with Estate Elite.

So if you’re ready to go all-in, keep reading!

Welcome, Adriana Locke!

There’s nothing I love more than a view—except for sitting down with a good book. But today I’m not just sitting down with a good book. Oh, no. Instead, I am here with my favorite author, Adriana Locke and I am trying really hard not to fangirl all over her. Does she write about real estate? No. But becoming a successful author with scads and scads of loyal fans takes the same kind of skill and dedication, so I couldn’t be more delighted to share our conversation with y’all!

Thank you, Adriana!
